Just make sure that it has a nice deep bowl and a strong handle to support the weight of whatever you will be growing in it. Putting it all together

Pots and kettles used as hanging planters might require you to drill some holes for both drainage and hanging purposes. For other planters that already have holes, or in some cases too many holes to be filled with soil, use sphagnum moss to line your pots. It looks better than plastic.
